Emory Swimming & Diving Teams Venture To Thailand

From Emory University Athletics

The Emory men's and women's swimming and diving teams will travel to the Southeast Asia nation of Thailand for almost two weeks where it will hold training sessions, perform community service activities and explore the culture of the world's 20th largest country.

The bulk of the 54-member travel party will depart Atlanta on Saturday evening (Aug. 5) and return the night of August 18.  Among the cities the teams will take in are Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket. There will be plenty of activities in store for the Eagles including a boat tour of the legendary Chap Phraya River and tours of various temples while in Bangkok, a guided trek through the hill country of Chiang Mai and canoeing and scuba diving in Phuket.  Both squads will take part in community service at the ViengPing Children's Home and the Chiang Mai Home for Boys.

Both the men's and women's teams are coming off memorable 2016-17 seasons, with the men's squad capturing the program's first-ever national title while the women raced to their eighth straight and the school's 10th overall national crown.
