NYU Finishes 10th At NCAA Championships

The New York University women's swimming & diving team has completed competition at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, which were held on Wednesday-Saturday, March 21-24, in Indianapolis, IN.

The Violets placed 10th out of 51 teams in the competition, accumulating 113 points. Emory University won the national title with 603 points.

"I am incredibly proud of the team," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "They stepped up to the challenge once again and capped off the season in impressive fashion."

The top NYU finisher on Saturday was Sydney Catron, who captured eighth in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:01.74. Close behind was Jaime Robinson, who placed ninth in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:06.01), just ahead of teammate Grace Wakabayashi in 13th (17:11.35).

Carmen White placed 10th in the three-meter dive, scoring a mark of 462.20 to earn Honorable Mention All-America status.

"Carmen had a great day, moving from her preliminary-qualifying 15th place and moving up to 10th," said Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "It was a great way to end the year after a disappointing one meter. I couldn't be more proud of the way she came back today."   

Over the course of the four-day competition, Violet swimmers earned a total of seven All-America honors and eight Honorable Mention All-America accolades.

Also competing for NYU on Saturday were the following swimmers:

100-yard freestyle - May Li (39th, 52.72)
1,650-yard freestyle - Haley Wen (24th, 17:30.27)

The 2017-18 NYU swimming & diving season has concluded.
