Washington University Wraps Up Weekend in Three Events, Including Miami Invitational

The Washington University in St. Louis swimming & diving program wrapped up a weekend in which it had student-athletes competing in three separate locations including Miami (Ohio) University, Wheaton (Ill.) College and Grinnell College.

The No. 10-ranked WashU women placed fifth with 346 points behind Miami (1,480), No. 1-ranked Emory (834), No. 6-ranked Denison (728), Milwaukee (646) while finishing ahead of Division I Ball State University (324).

The WashU women's 400 free relay also earned a B cut time when they placed fifth overall with a time of 3:28.19. The relay team consisted of senior Nicole Zanolli, senior Niamh O'Grady, sophomore Mollie Seidner and junior Lauren Sapp. The Bears time ranks fourth in Division III.

Zanolli and O'Grady both earned individual B cut times as well. Zanolli earned her B cut time in the 200 back prelims (2:03.84) while O'Grady finished the 100 free in 51.67 to meet the standards.

Wheaton Invite Highlights

The WashU women placed first with 978 points followed by Wheaton (839.5), Hope College (674.5), University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (528.5), Augustana College (255.5). 

The women who earned first place honors were junior Maggie Cox in the 400 IM (4:39.66) and sophomore Catherine Cowin in the 200 free (1:55.08).
