Washington University Takes Fourth Place at Show-Me-Showdown

The Washington University in St. Louis women's swimming and diving program began the 2017-18 season at the Show-Me-Showdown, placing fourth Friday evening at the event hosted by Division I Missouri at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.

The WashU women placed fourth with 369 points and the men scored a fourth place finish with 268 points scored. Missouri won both the women's and men's side followed by Division I Missouri State University. Placing third on the women's side was Saint Louis University while Lindenwood University placed third on the men's.

The women had 14 times within the top-10 of the meet featuring a mixture of Division I, II and III teams. Seniors Niamh O'Grady and Nicole Zanolli finished with multiple top-10 times including the Bears' fourth place time in the 400 free relay (3:35.67). They combined with senior Alissa Ling and freshman Katie Cardwell for the fourth place finish.

O'Grady and sophomore Stephanie Li had the highest personal swim finishes as both placed seventh overall. O'Grady placed seventh in the 100 butterfly (57.20), while Li earned a seventh place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.78).

Senior Laura Barber dove to multiple top-10 finishes, placing fifth in the one-meter dive (194.85) and 10th in the three-meter dive (214.70).
