Rochester Firmly in Third Place at Ithaca Invitational

Rochester's women had four individuals finish in the top 10 along with both relays on Saturday in the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational..
 
With the morning session complete, Rochester moved up one notch in the team scoring. The Yellowjackets sat in third place of 11 teams with 447 points. Cornell led with 877.5 points and Geneseo was second at 732. Ithaca was in fourth place with 405.
 
Monica Jackson was third individually in the 100 butterfly (:57.86). Anna Cook was one of three top 20 finishers in the 400 IM. She was seventh in 4:42.17. Shannon Cahalan was 10th (4:44.65), and Serena Uong was 18th (5:00.95).
 
Becca Selznick swam to a ninth place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:57.63). Caity Weeden was 12th (1:58.62), and Margaret Brennan was 17th (1:59.71).

The 200 freestyle relay got to the wall in fourth place, timed in 1:39.54 (Nicole Gelb, Erica Hughes, Sofia Guarnieri, Selznick). The 400 medley relay finished second, time in 3:57.08 (Hughes, Guarnieri, Jackson, Selznick).
 
Four events will be conducted on Saturday evening (200 fly, 100 back, 100 breast, 800 free relay). The final session of the competition begins at 10 am on Sunday.

Evening Session
Rochester made its mark right away in the 200 fly. The Yellowjackets placed four women in the top 12 finishers, three of them in the top 10: Shannon Cahalan was fifth (2:09.27),  Tess Minigell was seventh (2:13.07), Anna Cook 10th (2:13.46), and Caroliyn Kochek 12th (2:14.47).

That set the stage for the 100 backstroke with Erica Hughes finishing second (:57.57). Kelsey Bartlett was fifth (:59.74), and three teammates finished 10-1112: Sydney Shannonn (1:01.12), Lucia Berkhof (1:01.33), Nicole Gelb(1:01.65).

Monica Jackson was fourth in the 100 breaststroke(1:06.56, less than two-tenths of a second from a third place finish). Sofia Guarnieri was 12th (1:08.48).

The 800 free relay closed the swimming action on Saturday night. Rochester was third: 7:53.95 - Minigell, Margaret Brennan, Weeden, Selznick.

IOn the diving events, Andreanna Bowers was 15th (331.90) and Paige Hayward was 18th (302.65).

By the end of Saturday, Rochester had 745 points (still third), behind Cornell (1,262.5) and Geneseo (1,046).
