From Emory University Athletics
Emory University senior Gabrielle Clark was named the
2014 NCAA Division III Senior Women's Tennis Player of the Year by
the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Wednesday.
Clark led the top-ranked Eagles to the program's sixth National
Championship on Wednesday, and currently stands at 19-4 in singles
play, and 23-8 in doubles action. She was named the
University Athletic Association (UAA) Most Valuable Player for the
third time in her career earlier this season, earning first team
all-conference accolades at first singles and doubles. In
addition, she is Emory's all-time leader in doubles victories with
a 109-34 career record, and second in singles wins with a mark of
103-21. Clark claimed the NCAA Division III Singles
Championship in 2012, and will be competing in both the singles and
doubles draw of this year's Championships.
Clark is the second Emory player to earn the award, after former
Eagle Mary Ellen Gordon claimed the honor in 2004.
