A day removed from winning the team title at the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships, Emory University senior Gabrielle Clark won a pair of singles matches to reach the quarterfinals of the singles tournament, and teamed with freshman Michelle Satterfield to advance to the quarterfinals of the doubles draw in Claremont, California on Thursday.
Clark, the top seed in the tournament, won each of her matches
in straight sets, defeating Caroline Ward of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
Colleges 6-1, 6-1 in the round of 32and Alexandra Fields of
Middlebury College 6-1, 6-0 in the round of 16. She will play
in the quarterfinals on Friday at 1:30 PM ET against Elysa Kohrs of
MIT. Should she win, the semifinal contest will be on Friday
at 5:00 PM ET, with the championship match on Saturday at 1:00 PM
ET.
Clark and Satterfield, seeded fourth, earned a three-set win in
their round of 16 doubles match, besting Jessica Ly and Ceara
Sumida of the University of Redlands 6-3, 1-6, 6-0.
