Chicago Starts UAA Championship With 6-3 Win Over Brandeis

In opening round action at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship, the University of Chicago women's tennis team beat Brandeis University 6-3 on Friday.

The No. 12-ranked Maroons improved to 10-8 and the No. 22-ranked Judges even their record at 10-10.

UChicago entered the weekend as the No. 4 seed while Brandeis was the No. 5 seed. The Maroons started strong by taking all three doubles matches, including some close results at No. 1 (9-8) and No. 3 (9-7). The two teams then split the six singles contests, with UChicago winning spots two through four. Sophomore Helen Sdvizhkov, junior Kelsey McGillis and freshman Tiffany Chen all picked up wins in singles and doubles.
