From Washington University Athletics
The No. 9-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team swept doubles for the 10th time this season en route to a 5-0 win over Grinnell College in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships Friday morning at Tao Tennis Center.
After starting slowly, the Bears pulled away to take a 3-0 lead after doubles. Sophomore Jamie Silverberg made quick work with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles to make it 4-0, and freshman Rebecca Ho won her team-leading 23rd singles match of the season with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 2 to finish the match.
Washington U. (18-5) faces No. 11 DePauw University in the NCAA Regional Championship at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Tigers earned a 5-1 win over No. 25 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Friday afternoon. It will be the fourth match this season between Washington U. and DePauw. The Tigers won the first match between the teams, while Washington U. has won each of the past two.
