Carnegie Mellon Hosts Annual Invitational

The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team hosted its annual invitational on Friday, September 12 through Sunday, September 14 with Bucknell University, Duquesne University and St. Francis University participating.

Freshmen Cori Sidell (Redwood Shores, Calif./Carlmont), Kalyani Narayan (Saratoga, Calif./Saratoga), Stacy Chang (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and Katie Lai (Hagatna, Guam/St. Andrew's Episcopal School) all won their first match of the weekend on Friday. Joining the four freshmen with singles victories on Friday were sophomore Nicholle Torres (Weston, Fla./Great Neck South) and junior Brooke Tsu (Hillsborough, Calif./Burlingame).

On Saturday, Torres returned to pick up another victory, 8-3, over Lucy Jasso of St. Francis, while Narayan, Tsu and Chang also won for the second time. Narayan defeated Brittini Jentz of St. Francis 8-4, Tsu topped Zuzanna Stelmaszak of Duquesne 8-6 and Chang handed Ally Miller of Duquense an 8-1 loss.

Torres finished her weekend defeating Stelmaszk 8-3 on Sunday.

In doubles play, 11 different pairs for the Tartans won as senior Lydia Utkin (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) and Narayan won three times together for the weekend by scores of 6-2, 6-4 and 9-8 (7-3).
