No. 7 Tartans Defeat No. 14 Sewanee, 6-3

The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team defeated 14th-ranked Sewanee, 6-3, on Friday, March 13 to close out its spring break tour in California. The Tartans, ranked seventh nationally, are now 10-3 on the year. 

The Tartans held a 2-1 lead after doubles play as they got wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Sophomore Vanessa Pavia (Thornwood, N.Y./Academy of our Lady of Good Counsel) and freshman Stacy Chang (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) won 8-1 and second doubles while junior Brooke Tsu(Hillsborough, Calif./Burlingame) and sophomore Nicholle Torres (Weston, Fla./Great Neck South) won 8-3 in the third spot. 

Pavia, Torres, Tsu, and senior Bryn Raschke (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines) all won their singles matches. Pavia won 6-3, 6-2 at first singles while Torres won at third singles, 6-3, 7-5. Tsu won her No. 4 singles match in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 as Raschke won at sixth singles, 6-1, 6-1.
