Doubles Sweep Keys No. 21 CWRU 6-3 Win Over No. 25 Denison

A doubles sweep was the key to the No. 21 Case Western Reserve women's tennis defeating No. 25 Denison University, 6-3, on Saturday.

Sophomore Sarah Berchuck (Dallas, Texas/Baylor School & Suffield Academy) and junior Surya Khadilkar (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Hawken School) teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles and then posted straight-set wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Berchuck dropped only one game in each set in her singles victory, while Khadilkar won 6-3, 6-3.

Sophomore Jennifer Lowe (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) also earned a pair of points, teaming with junior Michelle Djohan (Westlake, Ohio/Westlake) for an 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles and then earning a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.

Senior Marianne Bonanno (Clayton, Ohio/Northmont) and freshman Nithya Kanagasegar (Crossville, Tenn./Cumberland County) wno 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.

"Our doubles' teams were great today," said head coach Kirsten Gambrell. "That really took the pressure off in singles. Overall, we played well today and get to get in another match outdoors before UAA's next week."
