From Emory University Athletics
Emory University continued its winning ways on the West Coast on Thursday, as the second-ranked Eagles defeated sixth-ranked Bowdoin College 6-3 at the Indian Ridge Club in Palm Desert, California.
The win was the third straight for the Eagles, as the squad improved to 8-2 on the season. It also marked Emory's 18th-consecutive win against Division III opposition, including a 5-0 mark in 2015. Bowdoin dropped to 3-1 on the year with the loss.
Emory swept all three doubles matches, with sophomore Katarina Su and freshman Anna Fuhr winning 9-7 over Joulia Likhanskaia and Tess Trinka at first doubles, sophomore Melissa Goodman and junior Beatrice Rosen claiming an 8-3 win over Emma Chow and Kyra Silitch at second doubles, and sophomore Michelle Satterfield and freshman Bridget Harding earning another 8-3 win at third doubles over Pilar Giffenig and Tiffany Cheng.
Emory would go on to get singles wins from Satterfield at second singles 6-4, 6-7 (6), 10-6 over Cheng, Goodman at fourth singles, 6-3, 6-0 over Giffenig, and Harding at fifth singles, 6-0, 6-1 over Samantha Stalder.
Emory will play one more game before returning home, taking on fifth-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Friday, March 13th at 4:00 pm PT at Pomona-Pitzer.
