Emory Defeats #14 DePauw 8-1 in Fab 5 Finale

The top-ranked Emory University Women's Tennis team wrapped up play at the Fab 5 Tournament in Lexington, Virginia on Sunday morning with an 8-1 win over 14th-ranked DePauw University.

The Eagles claimed wins in two of the three doubles matches, with freshman Bridget Harding and sophomore Katarina Su defeating Julie Wittwer and Kaitlin Pickrel 8-6 in the second match, and sophomore Melissa Goodman and junior Madison Gordon winning 8-4 over Taylor Mahr and Carolyn Hueth at third doubles.

Emory would go on to sweep the six singles matches in the contest to secure the team victory.  Sophomore Michelle Satterfield earned a three-set win at first singles over Claire Marshall, 4-6, 7-6 (1), 10-2, as did Su at second singles over Maggie MacPhail, 5-7, 6-0, 10-7.  In the third match, Goodman picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Mahr, and Harding claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win over Wittwer in the fourth contest.  Gordon would go on to secure the win at fifth singles, 6-2, 6-1 over Pickrel, while freshman Julie Fowlercapped off the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Maddie Lee in the sixth match.

The Eagles now stand at 11-3 on the season, while DePauw dropped to 7-7 with the loss.
