The Eagles will be returning 13 members from last year's NCAA
Division III Championship winning squad, which also claimed the
University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships and set the
program-mark for wins in a season with a 28-2 overall record.
The Eagles were a perfect 20-0 against Division III opponents in
2014, allowing opponents to win more than two matches just once in
dual contests during the year.
Despite losing two key seniors from last year's squad –
two-time NCAA Division III Singles Champion Gabrielle
Clark and three-time all-UAA selection Brenna
Kelly – the Eagles will be bringing back an accomplished
squad, including five of its six singles player and four of its six
doubles participants from last year's NCAA Championship match
victory over Amherst.
Sophomore Michelle Satterfield will aim to repeat as the
USTA/ITA South Region Champion, after she won the singles title and
teamed with senior Rebecca Siegler for the doubles
crown. Satterfield would go on to win the USTA/ITA Division
III Small College National Championship, advancing to the 'Super
Bowl,' and finished third in the Division III doubles draw with
Siegler.
Joining Satterfield and Siegler on the 2014-15 squad will be
returning all-America and junior Beatrice Rosen, 2014 all-UAA
selections in sophomore Katarina Su, sophomoreMelissa Goodman,
and junior Madison Gordon. Other returning letter
winners include senior captain Danielle Truitt,
seniors Allie Damico and Catharine Harris,
juniorsMarissa Levine and Stephanie Loutsenko, and
sophomores Bruna Correa and Michelle DeMeo.
The Eagles will be joined by a talented three-player freshman class
as well, which includes Julie Fowler, Anna
Fuhr and Bridget Harding. The class was ranked as
the top-rated class in Division III by TennisRecruiting.net, and
eighth among mid-major programs.
An Emory player has won both the singles and doubles draw at each
of the last seven USTA/ITA South Region Championships, dating back
to the 2007 campaign, and 10 times in the last 11 years.
Moreover, an Eagle has been the singles champion every year since
2002.
Emory will be led by Amy Bryant, who earned her
300th career victory (300-75 career record) and
fifth National Championship as a Head Coach last season. Now
in her 16th season with the Eagles, Bryant is
assisted by former Emory player Jordan Wylie and Barbora
Krtickova.
