From Emory University Athletics

Former Emory head women's tennis coach Linda Lipson was honored with a court dedication Sunday morning at the Woodruff PE Center.

Lipson served as head coach with the Eagles from 1978 through 1988 and played an important role in the growth and success of women's sports at Emory.  Under her guidance, the program captured the first-ever University Athletic Association Championship in 1988 and appeared in four NCAA Tournaments.

The owner of a 126-75 career record at Emory, Lipson was selected as the GAIAW Coach of the Year in 1980 and the UAA Coach of the Year in 1988.  In addition, she was a member of the NCAA National Tennis Committee and the board of directors of the Georgia Association of Collegiate Sports for Women.  She was inducted into the Emory Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.
