Carmen Lai and Laila El Dessouki of the New York University women's tennis team will compete at the United States Tennis Association (USTA)/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Small College Championships From Thursday-Sunday, October 9-12, in Sumter, SC.

Lai and El Dessouki qualified for the National Championships with a tournament doubles victory at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships on Monday, September 29, in Geneva, NY.

The #7-seeded Violets will face a field comprised of doubles champions from each of the ITA's eight regions.

El Dessouki and Lai, who are now 7-2 as a doubles team this fall, are also guaranteed ITA All-America honors.
