From NYU Athletics
The New York University women's tennis team completed
competition at the College of New Jersey Invitational on Saturday,
September 13, in Ewing, NJ.
The Violets closed out their first tournament by besting TCNJ
5-3 in doubles.
NYU won three out of four Flight A matches and split their
Flight B matches 2-2.
At the invitational, consisting of both singles and doubles
play, the Violets compiled an overall record of 9-9.
Junior Carmen Lai and
sophomore Laila El Dessouki won
all of their matches, each posting 3-0 records including singles
victories on Friday.
Highlights:
- Newcomers Lai and El Dessouki won both of their
matches as a pair by scores of 8-3 and 8-1.
- Juniors Alison
Wang and Madeline
King won a tight match 9-8 (7-5).
- Senior Mari Tzakis and
Freshmen Nicole Schnabel earned a
victory by the score of 8-5.
- Senior Alexandra
Ziarko and junior Jazmin
Colling won their match 8-2.
