Michelle Satterfield of Emory Reaches Quarterfinals of NCAA Singles Draw

Emory University sophomore Michelle Satterfield won a pair of matches on Thursday to reach the quarterfinals of the singles draw at the 2015 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships in Mason, Ohio.

Satterfield, unseeded in the singles draw, began her day with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the round of 32 over Caroline Ward of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, the sixth-seeded player.  She followed that with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Linda Shin of Williams College in the round of 16 to reach the quarterfinals.

Satterfield, who improved to 15-7 with the two wins, will face unseeded Summer Garrison of Lewis & Clark College on Friday.

Also on Thursday, Satterfield and freshman Anna Fuhr suffered a 6-0, 7-5 defeat in the round of 16 to the top-seeded duo of Ward and Katie Kousman of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, as the duo ended their season with a doubles record of 7-7.
