Kelly Stahlhuth of Washington Named ITA Central Region Coach of the Year

Washington University in St. Louis head coach Kelly Stahlhuth was selected as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Women's Central Region Coach of the Year, as announced by the ITA.

Stahlhuth, who is in her 10th season as the Bears' head coach, led the team to an 18-5 record during the regular season, one win shy of the team's highest win total in her tenure. WashU enters the postseason ranked No. 1 in the Central Region and No. 11 in NCAA Division III, and has an 11-5 record against ranked opponents this season. The Bears were 8-1 against five other teams currently ranked in the Central Region Top-20.

Stahlhuth recorded the 150th win of her career April 10 when the Bears' defeated No. 38 University of Texas-Tyler 9-0. She has an overall record of 155-71 (.686) as the Bears enter NCAA Tournament play for the eighth consecutive season. Stahlhuth led WashU to a fourth-place finish at the 2015 ITA Division III National Team Indoor Championships, and a third-place finish at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship.

WashU begins postseason play against No. 12 Sewanee University in the NCAA Second Round at 10 a.m. Friday in Sewanee, Tenn. In addition to the team's NCAA Tournament bid, sophomore Rebecca Ho and junior Jamie Silverberg were both selected to compete in the 2015 NCAA Division III Individual Championships.
