The University of Rochester women's tennis team earned its
first dual match win of the season, earning a 6-3 victory over
Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon at the Goergen Athletic
Center.
Rochester (1-1) had three double winners on the day with
Christine Ho, Dorothy Tai and Lauren Zickar all earning two
wins. The loss is Ithaca's 2nd this season as the Bombers are
now 10-2 in duals.
The Yellowjackets started out strong winning two of three
doubles matches. Ho and Tai teamed at #1 doubles for an 8-6
victory over Haley Kusak and Carly Siegel. At third doubles,
Zickar and Alex Wolkoff won 8-2 over Alyssa Steinweis and Kelly
Fishback. IC got its doubles point at #2 when Allison
Vizgaitis and Marni Blumenthal topped UR's Molly Goodman and Cara
Genbauffe 8-4.
In singles, Goodman rebounded nicely with a 6-0, 6-1 win at
4th singles. Ho then put UR one win away from the match with
a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the top spot. Tai would then earn the
clinching point with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at 2nd singles.
Zickar put Rochester up 6-1 after winning 6-1, 6-1 at
#6. The Bombers finished strong with wins from Vizgaitis at
#3 over Genbauffe (6-4, 7-5) and Steinweis at #5 over Darby McCall
(3-6, 6-4, 10-3).
