Rochester Wins Last Two Pairings to Top NYU, 5-4

Rochester won at fourth and sixth singles handily to rally for a 5-4 women's tennis victory over New York University on Saturday afternoon.  The Yellowjackets (3-5) won two of the three doubles sessions and split the six singles events to capture the victory.
 
Molly Goodman defeated Madeline King, 6-1, 6-4, to pull Rochester even at 4-4. Darby McCall clinched the win with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Alexandra Ziarko. Rochester's other singles victory came at #2 with Dorothy Tai snagging a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over Mari Tzakis.

NYU won its three singles matches in straight sets: Carmen Lai downing Christine Ho, 6-1, 6-3, at #1, Laila El Dessouki topping Cara Genbauffe, 6-1, 6-2, at #3, and Nicole Schnabel defeating Alex Wolfkoff, 6-0, 6-2, at #5.
 
In the doubles pairings, Lai and El Dessouki defeated Genbauffe and Ho, 8-1, at #1. Rochester drew even at 1-1 in team points when Wolkoff and Lauren Zickar posted a 9-8 (1) victory over Schnabel and Jazmin Colling at #3. Tai and Goodman paired to secure an 8-6 win at #2 against Tzakis and King, That gave Rochester a 2-1 edge heading into the singles matches.
