Washington University in St. Louis sophomore Rebecca Ho concluded the fall women's tennis season by finishing in fifth at the 2014 USTA/ITA National Small College Championships at the Palmetto Tennis Center Saturday morning. Ho defeated Andrea Madrigal of the University of La Verne 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the fifth-place match.
Madrigal took the first set 6-4, before Ho won set two 6-2 to force a third set. After falling behind 4-2, Ho won the final four games to finish the match with the 6-4 win in set three. It was Ho's third three-set match at the Small College Nationals after playing just five three-set matches in singles during her freshman season in 2013-14.
With the win, Ho improved to 9-1 in singles this season and 33-4 in her career. Madrigal, the No. 3 seed at the tournament, was a singles All-American a year ago after winning the ITA West Region Championship and finishing sixth at the 2013 USTA/ITA National Small College Championships. She finished the 2013-14 season ranked No. 14 in singles in NCAA Division III.
