The 22nd-ranked Spartans kicked off their 'Senior Day' with a win in the first of two matches, defeating 30th-ranked New York University 7-2 at the Cleveland Skating Club on Sunday morning.

The win was the third-straight for the Spartans, who improved to 10-3 overall this season.  The loss was the first of the season for the Violets, who dropped to 5-1 on the campaign.

CWRU senior Surya Khadilkar celebrated 'Senior Day' with the 62nd doubles victory of her career, becoming the program's all-time leader in the category.  Khadilkar teamed with senior Michelle Djohan for an 8-2 win over Vanessa Scott and Laila El Dessouki in the second doubles match to set the program record.

Adding doubles victories on Sunday were sophomore Nithya Kanagasegar and senior Sara Zargham, defeating NYU's Carmen Lai and Flyora Shiyanova 8-4 in the first doubles match, and senior Taylor Sweeney and freshman Jessica Liu, picking up an 8-1 win over Nicole Schnabel and Madeline King at third doubles.  It marked the second-straight match and the sixth time overall this season that the Spartans have swept all three doubles contests.

Djohan tallied the first singles victory of the day as well, besting King 6-1, 6-0 in the fifth singles match, and sophomore Nina Cepeda clinched the team victory with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Schnabel at sixth singles.  Sweeney added on a victory in the fourth singles match, 6-4, 6-4 over El Dessouki to extend the Spartans' lead to 6-0.  After the Violets picked up wins at the second and third singles matches, Kanagasegar capped off the 7-2 win with a three-set victory over Lai in the first singles match, 7-5, 6-7 (4), 10-4.

The win gave the Spartans their third-straight victory against a nationally-ranked opponent, as the team improved to 6-3 against opposition ranked in the top-40 nationally this season.
