The #3 Emory University women's tennis program split a pair of matches against Division I opponents on Saturday to improve to 9-2 on the season. The Eagles dropped a 5-2 decision to Montana State in the first match of the day but bounced back with a 4-3 victory over Northern Arizona.

Against the Bobcats (4-8), the Eagles saw two players earn wins during singles play as freshman Taylor Cosme won at the no.1 position 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 and junior Katarina Su earned a victory on the no.3 court in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Senior Beatrice Rosen dropped a three setter for the no.2 singles point 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 and freshman Daniella Moreno-Kaste fell 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) at no.4 singles. Junior Paula Castro lost a tough three setter at the no.5 position 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 and junior Melissa Goodman was defeated 6-1, 6-3 at no.6 singles.

In doubles play, junior Michelle Satterfield and sophomore Anna Fuhr fell at no.1 doubles 7-6 (7-4) meanwhile Castro and Moreno-Kaste was bested on the no.2 line 6-2. Cosme and senior Stephanie Loutsenko was edged out in the third doubles match 7-5.

Emory earned four of the six singles points en route to the close victory over the Lumberjacks (7-6) in the second match of the day. Sophomore Bridget Harding claimed the no.1 singles point in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 and Cosme picked up her second singles win on the afternoon, winning the no.3 singles match 6-2, 6-2. Senior Madison Gordon picked up a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 decision on the no.5 singles court and Su won at the no.6 position 6-1, 6-3. Satterfield was knocked off at no.2 singles in a tight three sets 5-7, 7-5, 10-6 and Rosen was defeated 6-3, 6-2 for the no.4 singles point.

Northern Arizona took the doubles point in the match, defeating Harding/Fuhr 6-3 at no.1 doubles and Moreno-Kaste/Castro 6-1 at no.2 doubles. Freshman Daniela Lopez and Su were tied 4-4 but went unfinished because of the two other doubles results.
