Fourth-Ranked Eagles Sweep #15 DePauw, #24 Trinity to Open Fab 5 Tournament

The fourth-ranked Emory University women's tennis program opened the Fab 5 Tournament with a pair of 9-0 victories over top-25 programs: #15 DePauw University and #24 Trinity (TX). With the two wins, the Eagles ran their match win streak to seven and are now 15-2 on the year.

In the opening match against DePauw, sophomore Anna Fuhr and freshman Daniela Lopez continued their strong play on the no.1 doubles court winning 8-5. Junior Katarina Su and sophomore Bridget Harding blanked their opponents 8-0 for the no.2 doubles point and juniors Michelle Satterfield and Paula Castro claimed the no.3 doubles win 8-3.

In singles action, Emory won all six matches against the Tigers in straight sets. Satterfield won on the no.1 singles court 6-3, 6-0 while senior Beatrice Rosen won 6-2, 6-0 on the no.2 singles line. Su picked up a victory on the no.3 singles court 6-0, 6-1 and Fuhr dropped just one game as well for the no.4 singles point, winning 6-1, 6-0. Castro and junior Melissa Goodman rounded out singles play for the Eagles as Castro was triumphant 6-0, 6-2 for the no.5 singles point and Goodman won by a 6-3, 6-0 decision.

Against Trinity, Fuhr and Lopez won a tightly contest doubles match on court one, 8-6 while Emory's no.2 doubles team of Harding/Su and the no.3 doubles team of Satterfield/Castro both won by an identical 8-2 margin.

Emory won five of the six singles matches versus Trinity in straight sets. Harding took the no.1 singles point 6-1, 6-2 while freshman Taylor Cosme earned the no. 2 singles point 6-2. 6-2. Senior Madison Gordon dropped just two first set points in a 6-2, 6-0 victory on court three with Lopez picking up a 6-4, 6-2 win on court 4. Freshman Daniella Moreno-Kaste won the no.5 singles point for Emory in her lone action of the afternoon 6-1, 6-1 and senior Stephanie Loutsenko closed things out for the Eagles, battling back to win in three sets 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 10-7.

Senior Beatrice Rosen climbed into a tie for 12th all-time with her 72nd career singles victory with classmate Madison Gordon moving into a tie for 15th on the Emory all-time list with her 70th career singles win…Junior Katarina Su moved into the top 20 all-time today with her 60th career singles victory.
