Freshman Taylor Cosme and the doubles team of junior Katarina Su and sophomore Bridget Harding both advanced to the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships semifinals in their respective competitions on Thursday afternoon at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, South Carolina.
Cosme knocked off the #4 seed Summer Garrison from Lewis & Clark in the first round of the Division III singles tournament to advance to Friday's semifinals. Cosme won in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5 and will now face the #1 seed Eudice Chong from Wesleyan at 8:30am Friday morning. The New Hyde Park, NY native is now 10-1 so far this fall and has won nine straight matches.
Harding and Su defeated the #3 seed Marie Lutz/Liza Southwick from Trinity in the first round of the Division III doubles competition. Harding and Su won a three set battle 7-6 (11), 6-7 (4), 10-2 to move on to the semifinals on Friday afternoon beginning at 1:00 PM and will meet the #2 seed Brogan/Harris pairing from Mary Washington. Harding and Su are now 7-1 in the fall together and have rattled off six straight victories.
