From Emory University Athletics

The No. 1-ranked Emory University women's tennis program bounced back on Saturday afternoon, shutting out #26 Skidmore University 9-0 at Middlebury University for the team's 19^th victory of the season. The Eagles now stand 19-4 overall and are 13-1 against Division III schools.

Emory opened up the match sweeping all three doubles points for the first time in five matches. Sophomore Anna Fuhr and freshman Daniela Lopez earned an 8-4 triumph for the no.1 singles point. On court no.2, sophomore Bridget Harding and junior Katarina Su continued their winning streak, winning their ninth straight match together by a score of 8-1. Juniors Michelle Satterfield and Paula Castro wrapped up doubles play for the Eagles with an 8-0 blanking for the no.3 doubles point.

In singles play, Emory continued to make quick work of the Thoroughbreds as the Eagles won all six singles matches in straight sets. Harding claimed the no.1 singles point 6-1, 6-2 and Satterfield won the no.2 singles point by a 7-6 (3), 6-1 decision. On court no.3, freshman Taylor Cosme was victorious 6-3, 6-2 and senior Beatrice Rosen won on the no.4 singles line. 6-1, 6-0. Fellow senior Madison Gordon did not drop a game en route to a 6-0, 6-0 win for the no.5 singles point and Castro, playing in her first singles match since March 25^th, picked up a 6-2, 6-1 victory on the no.6 singles court.

Senior Madison Gordon became just the second Eagle to win 20 singles match this season and is now 20-2 overall including a team-best 14-match winning streak…Gordon also tied Lorne McManigle '11 for 10^th place all-time with her 75^th career singles victory…Senior Beatrice Rosen continued her ascent on the all-time leaderboard as well, moving into a tie with Jessica Levy '96 for seventh place with 77 career singles wins.
