The top-ranked Emory University women's tennis program won its fourth straight University Athletic Association championship and the 27^th overall in program history on Sunday afternoon, knocking off 12^th-ranked and third seeded Washington University, 7-2, in title match at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Emory moves to 23-4 overall on the season while the Bears fall to 15-8. The 23 wins ties the 2010-11 squad for the third most victories in a single season.

The Eagles began the match by taking two of the three doubles matches. Juniors Paula Castro and Michelle Satterfield gave Emory a 1-0 lead, winning by an 8-1 margin on court no.3. The Bears tied it at 1-1 as Jamie Silverberg and Grace Deering bested sophomore Anna Fuhr and freshman Daniela Lopez 8-5 in the no.1 doubles match. Junior Katarina Su and sophomore Bridget Harding claimed the rubber doubles match for Emory, winning the no.2 doubles point, 8-5, to give the Eagles a 2-1 edge heading into singles play.

Emory began singles action by winning two of the first three matches to extend its lead to 4-2. Freshman Taylor Cosme won her team-leading 28^th singles match, taking the no.3 singles point 6-1, 6-1 and senior Beatrice Rosen posted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Aly Coran for the no.4 singles point. Harding, however, fell to Rebecca Ho at first singles 6-0, 6-1 to give WashU its second point in the match.

The clinching point for the Eagles came from Castro in the sixth singles match as she lost just one game en route to a 6-1, 6-0 victory to seal the title for Emory. Satterfield and senior Madison Gordon each turned in wins of their own with Satterfield winning at second singles, 6-0, 6-4 and Gordon at fifth singles 6-3, 6-2 to provide the 7-2 final margin.

Senior Beatrice Rosen becomes just the fifth player in Emory history to reach 80 career singles wins and is now in sole possession of fifth-place on the all-time list…Senior Madison Gordon won her 18^th straight singles match on Sunday to improve to 24-2 on the season…The 24 victories represent a career-high for the New York, NY native and she now is tied for sixth place on Emory's all-time list with 79 career singles wins…Freshman Taylor Cosme's 28 singles wins is tied for the third most in a single season in program history and becomes just the fourth freshman ever to reach that total and the first since both teammates Katarina Su and Michelle Satterfield recorded 28 successful decisions during the 2013-14 season.
