#1 Eagles Advance to Eighth Consecutive NCAA D-III Women's Tennis Semifinals

The top-ranked Emory­ University women's­ tennis team is headed to the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships Semifinals for the eighth straight season and the 17th time in program history after defeating 10th-ranked Washington University, 5-0, in the quarterfinals on Monday afternoon at Stowe Stadium on the campus of Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Sophomore Bridget Harding and Katarina Su opened up the match with an 8-0 decision in the second doubles match. Juniors Michelle Satterfield and Paula Castro followed with an 8-5 victory for the No.3 doubles point and sophomore Anna Fuhr and senior Madison Gordon closed out doubles action with an 8-5 win in first doubles.

Emory's top two singles players, Harding and Satterfield, wrapped up the match for the Eagles (26-5) in singles play winning the final two points needed. Satterfield was the first to finish at second singles, defeating WashU's Jamie Sliverberg 6-1, 6-2. A short while later, Harding earned the decisive point, knocking off the Bears' Rebecca Ho 6-1, 6-3.

When the match was called, Emory was leading in three of the four remaining singles matches: senior Beatrice Rosen at No.3 singles (6-3, 3-0), Gordon at No.4 singles (6-2, 3-2) and Su at No.5 singles (6-0, 3-3). In the sixth singles match, freshman Daniela Lopez was tied at 6-6 in the first set.

Emory improves to 17-9 in the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals and 22-0 all-time against Washington University with three victories coming against the Bears this season. WashU finishes the season with a 17-5 overall record.

The Eagles will face Middlebury University in the semifinals tomorrow at 2:00 PM. The match will be played at Stowe Stadium and fans can follow the action with live updating results and video.
