Four UAA Women's Teams Set to Compete in ITA Regionals This Weekend

Four UAA women's tennis teams will be in action this week in three different Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regionals this weekend. 

Defending UAA champion and NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship runner-up Emory University will compete in the USTA/ITA South Regional in Murfreesboro, TN.

All 13 Eagles are scheduled to participate in the 60-player main singles draw. Senior Beatrice Rosen captured the regional singles title last season, marking the 13th consecutive year an Emory player won the regional tournament. Four of the top eight seeds are Eagles, including top-seeded junior Michelle Satterfield.

Six Emory duos are in the doubles draw with Satterfield and sophomore Anna Fuhr entering the tournament as the top seed. 

Case Western Reserve University, University of Chicago, and Washington University travel to Kalamazoo, MI for the Cenreal Regional.

Junior Rebecca Ho of Washington is the top seed and defending champion in the 96-player singles field. Aly Coran (13th), Grace Deering (15th), Kaylan Griffith (among players 17th) of the Bears are also seeded.

Sophomore Ariana Iranpour of Chicago is seeded second in the singles draw, while teammate Kaela Bynoe is among the players seeded 17th.

Sophomore Nithya Kanagasegar and senior Sara Zargham of CWRU enter the 64-team doubles tournament as the top seeds after reaching the quarterfinals last year. Teammates Nina Cepeda and Taylor Sweeney are the 14th-seeded team.

Ho and Coran of the Bears are seeded third in the doubles draw, and Deering and Griffith are seeded 10th.

Bynoe and Rachel Kim of the Maroons are seeded sixth in the doubles draw, while Iranpour and Courtney Warren are seeded seventh.

Kanagasegar reached the semifinals of the regional singles draw last year and is seeded fifth in this year's field. Jessica Liu (14th) and Sweeney (among players 17th) of the Spartans are also seeded.
