Three UAA Teams Earn Bids to NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship

Three UAA teams have earned a spot in the 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships, highlighted by top-ranked and UAA champion Emory University.

The Eagles (23-5), who won the NCAA title in 2014 and finished second last season, will open post-season play this year in the Washington & Lee University regional. With a first-round bye, Emory begins tournament play against the winner of the match between Methodist College and John Carroll University. Westminster (PA) College and Hanover College meet in the other first-round contest.

UAA runner-up and 10th-ranked Washington University (15-8) will host a six-team regional. The Bears earn a bye in the opening round before facing the winner of the Denison University vs. Concordia University Wisconsin match. Sewanee The University of the South also earned a bye and will play the Coe College-Grinnell College victor.

Ninth-ranked University of Chicago (11-5), coming off a third-place finish at the UAA championship, will travel to the seven-team University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Regional and receive a first-round bye. The Maroons face the winner of the matchup between Gustavus Adolphus College and Wheaton (IL) College. In the other first round action, UW-Whitewater plays College of St. Scholastica, while Hope College battles University of Northwestern-St. Paul.
