#30 NYU Cruises Past Oberlin 9-0

From NYU Athletics

The New York University women's tennis team, ranked #30 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), picked up a 9-0 victory on the road at #38 Oberlin College on Saturday night, April 2, in Oberlin, OH.

"It was a solid performance against a top-40 team," said NYU Head Coach Horace Choy. "Doubles was the key in that we were able to sweep three close matches."

The Violets (5-0) controlled the pace of play all evening long against the Yeowomen (9-7) en route to their shutout victory.

Three NYU team members -- Carmen Lai at #1, Flyora Shiyanova at #2 and Laila El Dessouki at #4 -- picked up straight-set victory in singles play. Additionally, the Violets won all three tightly-contested doubles matches.

"The strong play from our top four continued today, and we also had good wins from Madeline King and Nicole Schnabel," continued Choy.
