From Washington University Athletics
The No. 10-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team outlasted No. 12 Sewanee: University of the South 5-2 Saturday at the Tao Tennis Center to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2016 NCAA Division III Championship for the fourth time in school history.
"We battled the wind and battled a tough opponent. Sewanee played amazing We brought our A game and I am very proud of them," said 11th-year head coach Kelly Stahlhuth. "No. 2 and No. 3 doubles gave us the confidence and the momentum."
WashU improved to 17-8 with the win, while Sewanee ended its season with a 22-6 record. The Bears take on the winner of No. 1 Emory University and No. 15 Washington & Lee University Monday, May 23, in the NCAA Quarterfinals at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mich.
