Brandeis Splits With Amherst at Middlebury Hidden Duals

The 28th-ranked Brandeis women's tennis team was at Middlebury College for a series of singles and doubles matches against top-10 teams from Williams, Middlebury and Amherst.

On Friday evening in doubles play, the Judges were swept in four matches by the host and third-ranked Panthers. The top performance came at No.1, where rookie Sabrina Ross Neergaard (Port Orchard, Wash./Laurel Springs Prep) and sophomore Olivia Leavitt (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) dropped an 8-5 decision.

In singles action on Saturday, Neergaard also pulled out a win against the Panthers at No. 2, 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 10-7. Sophomore Keren Khromchenko (Manalapan, N.J./Acad. Of Allied Health and Science) suffered a tough loss at No. 3, 5-7, 6-7 (4-7).

Brandeis's best performance came against #7 Amherst, where the two teams battled to a 3-3 tie in singles. Ross Neergaard  earned a 6-4, 6-3, win for the Judges in the top spot. Khromchenko played another three-set win and rallied from a set down, 4-6, 6-0, 10-4, at the No. 4 spot. Junior Haley Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J./Laurel Springs) also came from a set down at No. 2 to earn a win, 1-6, 6-4, 10-6.

Against #2 Williams, sophomore Michelle Lehat (Great Neck , N.Y. / John L. Miller Great Neck North) picked up the team's lone victory at No. 6, 6-2, 6-1.
