From Case Western Reserve University Athletics
The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team, ranked 20th in Division III, finished the weekend with a 9-0 win over Kalamazoo College at the Cleveland Skating Club on Saturday evening.
The Spartans improved to 2-1 on the season with the win, while Kalamazoo dropped to 0-3 for the campaign.
In doubles action, junior Nithya Kanagasegar and sophomore Jessica Liu defeated Sabrina Dass and Laura Hanselman 8-4 at first doubles, while junior Peyton Young and freshman Kendal Holladay claimed an 8-2 victory over Maria Franco and Sonal Bahl in the second doubles match. Senior Kennedy Mulholland and junior Nina Cepeda rounded out the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win in the third doubles contest over Alexandria Oswalt and Maya Srkalovic.
In singles action, Kanagasegar bested Franco at first singles, 6-2, 6-1, and Holladay claimed a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Dass at no. 2 singles. Also claiming singles wins for the Spartans on Saturday were Liu at third singles 6-3, 6-3 over Hanselman, Young at fourth singles 6-3, 6-1 over Bahl, freshman Katrin Gurvich at fifth singles, 6-3, 6-2 over Eloise Germic and freshman Katie Busch at sixth singles, 6-3, 7-6 (10-8), over Siani Johnson at sixth singles.
