Bridget Harding Wins Maroon Flight Final; Emory Closes Out Play at Elon Fall Invitational

The Emory University Women's Tennis team wrapped up play at the Elon Fall Invitational on Sunday morning, closing out the three-day tournament with several key match wins.

No victory was larger on the afternoon than junior Bridget Harding's win in the Maroon Flight finals over Elon's Suzanne Zenoni. Harding needed three sets but was able to successfully defeat Zenoni 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 to take home the top spot in the top draw of the invitational.

The Eagles also claimed a pair of third place finishes in doubles action with Harding and senior Katarina Su winning the Maroon third place match over Elon's Zenoni and Alex Koniaev, 8-5, and senior Melissa Goodman and freshman Elaine Vernoff in the Powell flight, beating Radford's Melil Martin and Camilla Littlewood, 8-4.

In the finals of the Phoenix flight, senior Michelle DeMeo and freshman Emma Perelman were upended by Richmond's Dessislava Zlateva and Kelsey Williams 8-1 and in the third place match of the Gold flight, senior Michelle Satterfield and sophomore Daniela Lopez fell to Richmond's Gaby Rosales and Margaret Marshall 8-6.

Emory rounded out competition on Sunday with several exhibition matches with five Eagles collecting victories. DeMeo beat Appalachian State's Devin Knors 8-5, Vernoff and Satterfield breezed past Richmond's Kiana Marshall and Winthrop's Arianna Pepper by identical 8-2 scores, Su knocked off North Carolina Central's Lynsey Cover 6-1, 6-2 and Lopez defeated Appalachian State's Taylor Bygrave 8-6.
