The Emory University Women's Tennis team won its third straight match Saturday afternoon, conquering 22nd-ranked MIT by a score of 8-1 in Cambridge, MA.
For the third consecutive match, the top-ranked Eagles posted a 3-0 sweep in doubles to kick off the match.
At first doubles, junior Bridget Harding and senior Katarina Su were victorious as the duo bested Dora Tzeng and Kelly Zhu, 8-6. The win marked an impressive milestone in Su's career, as the decision was the 90th victory of her doubles career, becoming just the seventh Eagle to reach that mark in program history.
On court two, senior Michelle Satterfield and sophomore Daniela Lopez registered their eighth win in a row, edging Sonya Das and Serena Le 8-2. At third doubles, seniors Michelle DeMeo and Paula Castro defeated Rena Liu and Effie Jia, 8-4, for the pairing's third straight victory.
Emory finished off the Engineers, taking five of the six singles points with the wins coming from the one through five spots in the lineup.
Satterfield and Su continued to ascend the program all-time wins list as both players recorded 6-1, 6-1 wins. Satterfield tied Madison Gordon ('16) for fourth place in Emory history with her 83rd career triumph while Su moved into a tie with Megan Bern ('97) for eighth all-time with 79 career wins.
Harding and Castro both had to rally from first set defeats to win their respective matches. Harding battled back to knock off Tzeng 2-6, 6-0, 7-6 (5) at first singles with Castro downing Sharlene Song 3-6, 6-2, 10-7 at fifth singles. Senior Melissa Goodman tallied a straight set win at fourth singles as she beat Le 6-1, 6-4.
