The No.-1 ranked Emory University Women's Tennis team began their quest for a fifth consecutive University Athletic Association championship and the 28th overall in program history with a 9-0 whitewash of the University of Rochester Thursday morning in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
With the victory, the Eagles (11-5) advance to face No.-11 ranked and fourth-seeded Carnegie Mellon University in the semifinals on Friday afternoon at 2:00 PM. The Tartans were 7-2 winners over Case Western Reserve University on Thursday.
Senior Michelle Satterfield and sophomore Daniela Lopez began the scoring, notching the Eagles' first point at second doubles, upending Alex Wolkoff and Abbey Reinhart 8-3. At third doubles, seniors Michelle DeMeo and Paula Castro teamed up to down Sravya Gudipudi and Bianca Dyer 8-2. At first doubles, junior Bridget Harding and Katarina Su finished off the doubles sweep, defeating Lauren Zickar and Camila Garcia, 8-6.
Lopez and Harding made quick work of the Yellowjackets in singles, collecting the fourth and fifth match points to clinch the opening round win for the Eagles. Lopez did not drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 romp at third singles while Harding breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 win on court one.
Senior Melissa Goodman lost just one game in her 6-1, 6-0 win at fifth singles with Satterfield adding a 6-0, 6-0 victory at second singles. Su was another 6-1, 6-0 winner on court four while Castro earned a 6-1, 6-2 on court six to round out the Emory winners on the afternoon.

With her win at first doubles, Katarina Su moved into a tie with Brenna Kelly ('14) for fifth place on the all-time career list with 92…In singles, Su recorded her 82nd win of her career, moving into a tie with Jill Tobin ('92) for sixth place all-time.
