The No.-1 Emory University Women's Tennis team advanced to the title match of the 2017 ITA National Indoor Championships following an 8-1 win over No.-11 Washington University in the semifinals Saturday evening at the Adams Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Sunday will mark Emory's fourth overall appearance in the ITA National Indoor Championships title match and the first since 2011. The Eagles were crowned champions in both the 2010 and 2011 tournaments and runners-up in the inaugural 2009 draw.

Emory kicked off the match in quick fashion, dominating all three doubles matches against the Bears. Senior Paula Castro and sophomore Daniela Lopez took the second doubles match by a score of 8-1. Tandems senior Katarina Su/junior Bridget Harding and seniors Michelle Satterfield/Michelle DeMeofollowed with identical 8-2 victories at first and third doubles.

The Eagles claimed four of the six singles matches in straight sets to extend their lead to 7-0. Su earned Emory's fourth point at fourth singles, winning 6-0, 6-1 before Satterfield followed with the fifth and decisive point at second singles, edging Grace Deering 6-2, 6-2. DeMeo posted a 7-5, 6-1 win at sixth singles while Lopez recorded a 6-1, 6-3 triumph at third singles.

Senior Melissa Goodman needed a third-set tiebreaker but added a victory at fifth singles for the Eagles, defeating Lisa Chionis 2-6, 6-3, 10-4. At first singles, Harding went to a third set against Rebecca Ho to close out the match with Ho winning 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.
