NYU Tops Rochester, 8-1

The New York University women's tennis team defeated the University of Rochester 8-1 on Sunday, March 26, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx.

NYU improved to 5-3 on the season, while Rochester dropped to 6-4.

Four Violets - sophomore Vanessa Scott (#2 singles and #2 doubles), and freshmen Rupa Ganesh (#3 singles and #3 doubles), Judy Kam (#4 singles and #3 doubles), and Nikki Ong (#6 singles and #2 doubles) - earned wins in both singles and doubles play.

"We played well after a bit of a sluggish start," said NYU Head Coach Horace Choy. "Once we got out to a lead, we didn't look back."

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS:

- Sophomore Flyora Shiyanova (6-1, 6-2) and senior Laila El Dessouki (6-3, 6-2) earned wins at #1 singles and #5 singles, respectively, to cap off the day for NYU.
