Yellowjackets Capture 7-2 Win at #37 Oberlin

Rochester won two doubles matches and five of the six singles events to stun 37th-ranked Oberlin College on Saturday afternoon. The win boosts the Yellowjacket record to 7-4 in dual matches. Oberlin is 8-10 overall.

The Yellowjackets won straight-set decisions at first and second singles. At third singles, Alex Wolkoff outlasted Jackie McDermott, 7-6 on a 7-3 tiebreaker in the first set, then capitalized for a 6-0 win in the second set. The win by Wolkoff gave Rochester the match-clinching fifth team point.

Camila Garcia defeated Emma Brezel, 6-3, 6-4, at first singles and Sravya Gudipudi downed Mayada Audeh, 6-4, 6-2, at second singles.

With the Yellowjackets ahead, 5-1, Lauren Zickar made it 6-1 with a 6-0, 5-7, 6-4 win over Delaney Black at #4. Abby Reinhart earned the fifth singles point, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (11-9 on the super tiebreaker) at #6. Oberlin's lena Rich topped Darby McCall, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 1-0 (10-6) at fifth singles.

Zickar and Garcia captured the first Rochester point of the match, 8-6, at #1 doubles over Sarah Hughes and Brezel. Oberlin evened it at #3. Rich and Audeh topped Gudipudi and McCall, 8-6. The Yellowjackets went back in front, 2-1, after Wolkoff and Reinhart defeated Black and Hay, 8-7 (9-7), in second doubles.
