The University of Rochester women's tennis team secured its second straight victory by defeating Union College 8-1 on Saturday morning on the River Campus.
The Yellowjackets (2-1) had three double-winners on the day as Camila Garcia, Alex Wolkoffand Lauren Zickar each picked up wins in singles and doubles. The loss drops Union to 0-4 on the season.
The match started with a 3-0 sweep from UR in the doubles competition. At #1, Sravya Gudipudi and Garcia were 8-2 winners over Natalia Pezzuco and Paige Webster. Zickar and Wolkoff defeated Lisa Hladik and Julianne Loree 8-3 at #2 while Alyssa Chaneski and Mariana Flores Kim were 8-1 winners at #3 over Madeleine Hamparian and Megan Holmes.
In singles, the bottom half of the ladder each won their match without dropping a game. Zickar won and #4 6-0, 6-0, with Abbey Reinhart and Darby McCall following suit at #5 and #6 respectively.
Garcia was a 7-5, 6-4 winner at the #2 position while Wolkoff was victorious by a 6-1, 6-2 score at #3. Union secured its lone point of the day at #1, where Pezzuco was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over UR's Gudipudi.
