Cori Sidell Leads Tartans at Carnegie Mellon Invitational

The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team hosted its annual Carnegie Mellon Invitational with Division I Duquesne University and Division II Mercyhurst College participating on Friday, September 8 and Saturday, September 9.

Senior Cori Sidell (Redwood Shores, Calif. / Carlmont) won three matches for the weekend including two doubles matches with different partners. Her first win came in singles against Duquesne's Kylie Isaacs when she won 7-6(7-5), 6-4. In doubles, Sidell paired with freshman Alexandra Cash (New Albany, Ohio / New Albany) to defeat Isaacs and Maddy Adams of Duquesne, 8-4. Later on Friday she topped another pair from Duquesne with freshman Melissa Strome (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield), 8-3.

Junior Marina Selenica (Birmingham, Mich. / Detroit Country Day School) won two singles matches and two doubles matches with her singles win coming by 6-0, 6-1 and 3-6, 6-2, 10-4 scores. In doubles, Selenica played with freshmen Elizabeth Schulz (Fresno, Calf. / Clovis North) and Alex Iordache (Princeton, N.J. / South Brunswick) to win 8-5 and 8-1.

Freshman Hannah Rosenfield (Manchester, England / Windemere Preparatory School) won all three of her singles matches and was 4-1 for the weekend. Her three singles wins came against Duquense players while she paired with freshman Nila Ramaswamy (Sugar Land, Texas / Clements) to top a pair from Duquense in her doubles win.

Iordache compiled a record of 5-1 for the weekend with two singles wins and three doubles wins with three different partners. In singles play, Iordache defeated Duquesne's Lindsey Miller, 6-2, 6-4, and Tyra Abdalla, 6-2, 4-6, 10-6.
