The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team, ranked 18th in Division III, began its weekend with a 9-0 win over Centre College at the Cleveland Skating Club on Friday evening.

The Spartans improved to 3-1 on the season, while Centre dropped to 1-1 for the campaign.

In doubles action, senior Nithya Kanagasegar and freshman Madeleine Paolucci defeated Aliza Williams and Abigail Kent 8-2 at first doubles, while senior Peyton Young and freshman Nicole Cardwell claimed an 8-2 victory over Emily Zelichenok and Caroline Stallings in the second doubles match. Junior Jessica Liu and freshman Mira Amin rounded out the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win in the third doubles contest over Kenny Snow and Zena Maddux.

In singles action, Kanagasegar bested Kent at first singles 6-1, 6-0 and Paolucci claimed a 6-0, 5-7, 10-4 victory over Williams at second singles. Also claiming singles wins for the Spartans on Friday were Amin at third singles 6-3, 6-3 over Stallings, Liu at fourth singles 6-2, 6-2 over Zelichenok, Young at fifth singles 6-0, 6-0 over Snow, and senior Nina Cepeda at sixth singles, 6-0, 6-4 over Maddux.

The win was the second-straight for the Spartans, who have now won five of their last six matches dating back to last year.
