The Emory University Women's Tennis program recorded its first dual match win of the spring on Thursday afternoon, sweeping Brenau University, 9-0, in Gainesville, GA.
In doubles competition, Emory tandems Bridget Harding & Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico and Daniela Lopez & Katie Chang posted 8-4 results on courts one and three while Anna Fuhr and Stephanie Taylor earned the 8-2 win at second doubles.
During the singles portion of the match, the Eagles breezed to victories on all six courts, winning all by straight sets. At first singles, Harding registered a 6-1, 6-1 win and at second singles, Gonzalez-Rico claimed her third straight win, notching a 6-2, 6-0 triumph. Over on court three, Lopez tallied a 6-1, 6-2 conquest while Taylor coasted to a 6-0, 6-0 win on court four. Freshman Defne Olcay and sophomore Emma Perelman rounded out the victories for the Eagles on courts five and six, registering 6-1, 6-4 and 6-1, 6-2 decisions, respectively.
"I think our games are coming along nicely," Head Coach Amy Bryant said after the match. "We're really focusing on our individual styles at the moment and ready to move forward."
