Senior Bridget Harding and freshman Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico highlighted the Emory University Women's Tennis team on Saturday as the pair reached the finals of the main singles draw on day two of the Mercer Gridiron Classic in Macon, GA.

Harding and Gonzalez-Rico each recorded two victories on the afternoon to advance to the championship match. Harding topped Mercer's Celine Schepers 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinals before besting Alabama State's Reka Zsentes 6-3, 6-0 in the semifinals. Gonzalez-Rico also won both of her matches in straight sets by 6-1, 7-5 and 6-3, 6-4 margins. The duo will not compete in the title match on Sunday.

"This tournament provided some tough competition for us," stated Head Coach Amy Bryant. "It was great to get some more match experience under our belt especially as we prepare for next week's Oracle Cup."

The ITA Oracle Cup will be held on the campus of Berry College in Rome, GA from October 12-15th.

Harding and Gonzalez-Rico added a pair of consolation wins in doubles, besting a tandem from Middle Georgia, 6-2, and a team from Jacksonville State, 6-1.

Junior Daniela Lopez and freshman Defne Olcay were in action as well on Saturday, splitting a pair of doubles consolation matches. The duo defeated a team from Georgia State College 6-1 before falling to North Georgia, 6-3. Lopez and Olcay later were bounced from the quarterfinals of their respective singles draws, falling to members of Troy University.
