The top-ranked and top-seeded Emory University Women's Tennis team opened their University Athletic Association title defense on Friday morning, dispatching the University of Rochester, 9-0, in the first round at Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Senior Bridget Harding and freshman Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico improved to 15-0 at first doubles in the spring with an 8-0 decision to lead off the match. Senior Anna Fuhr and freshman Stephanie Taylor followed with an 8-2 victory at second doubles and junior Daniela Lopez and freshman Katie Chang rounded out the doubles sweep, taking third doubles 8-4.
In singles, it was all Emory as the Eagles dropped just six games total across the six matches. Freshman Defne Olcay and sophomore Emma Perelmanbegan singles play with matching 6-0, 6-0 triumphs on courts three and four. Chang made it 6-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at fifth singles while freshman Sasha Hartje and Gonzalez-Rico were next to post wins, turning in 6-0, 6-2 victories at sixth and first singles. Lopez closed out the match, notching a 6-0, 6-1 win at second singles.

With her doubles win with Gonzalez-Rico, senior Bridget Harding moved into sole possession of second place on the all-time list with her 106th doubles win of her career.
