University of Chicago women's tennis player Claire Handa came away with a victory in her opening match of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Oracle Cup on Thursday.

Handa was one of eight ITA regional champions competing in the Oracle Cup's singles bracket. Her first opponent was Rachel Summer (University of Mary Washington). The UChicago freshman took the first set 6-4, then cruised through the second set 6-1 to advance to the semifinals. She will next play against No. 1-seed Eudice Chong (Wesleyan University) on Friday at 11:00 AM (ET).
