Two trophies are given out each year at the Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regionals and New York University is going home with both of them.

Anna Maria Buraya earned the first trophy of the day when she defeated teammate Coco Kulle in the singles final, but Kulle didn't go home empty handed, instead she teamed up with Flyora Shiyanova to win the doubles championship a few hours later.

"I've been doing this for 25 years and I can't remember a time when a team had all four finalists," said NYU Head Coach Horace Choy. "This is a pretty historic day for our program."

Buraya earned her spot in the singles championship with a 6-3, 6-4 semifinal victory over Ada Wiggins of Skidmore College, which hosted the three-day event in Saratoga Springs, NY. Kulle defeated The College of New Jersey's Sneha Rangu 6-3, 6-4, before falling to her teammate 6-3, 6-2 in the championship.

The doubles final was also an all-NYU affair as Kulle and Shiyanova defeated Buraya and Judy Kam 8-4. Both Violet duos earned their spot in the doubles championship with semifinal victories on Saturday.

Buraya's singles title came after six-straight victories in the 64-player event, while Kulle and Shiyanova won five in a row in the 32-team doubles draw. 

"The two newcomers (Buraya and Kulle) have made quite the impact for us thus far," concluded Choy. "They've meshed well with our returners. I'm excited for what is to come."

Buraya is the first singles champion in program history, while Shiyanova and Kulle are the first doubles champions since Carmen Lai and Laila El Dessouki accomplished the feat in 2014. 

All three champions are ITA All-Americans and now advance to the ITA Nationals, which will be hosted by Berry College on October 11-15 in Rome, Georgia.
